Hey, guys, it’s me, Dai, here to celebrate the new year– 2023! Can you believe it? While I can believe it, I’ve always felt like 2023 was going to be a super-futuristic year, but we’ve arrived and there isn’t much different from when I was ten. I mean, sure, there are more electric vehicles and newer models of phones, but, really, nothing is new under the sun, so I take note of these things with a simple nod or maybe an “oh, that’s cool.” How do you guys feel about moving into a new year?
Woah, woah, woah. Before I get too far along, welcome to or welcome back to DaiDreamer, the website created for tweenagers by a teenager who has been homeschooled since third grade. And I’m not ashamed to say that. 2022 was a great year for DaiDreamer, with almost thirty posts released–and I opened this blog in April 2022. Therefore, I am confident in what 2023 will bring. If you are new to my blog, then I suggest checking out my previous posts once you’ve finished this one. (Hopefully you end up subscribing at my Home page.)
Well, anyway, I am really excited about 2023 despite what I said earlier. But I’m not anticipating new phones, new cars, or new technology. What I am anticipating is more experiences with my family, more opportunities to help other people, and more growth as a person. I feel like I left 2022 a completely different person. I read my Bible a lot more than I used to, I have less time with the TV and more time with my art and gifts, and I feel much more present than ever.
Those are things I’m very grateful for.
What are you grateful for moving into this new year? Really, really, think about it as you go about your day. You might notice some things that you didn’t before. You might realize some really great things about a sibling. You might realize some really great things about a friend. You might realize some really great things hidden in God’s Word. Once you feel that warm feeling of gratefulness rising, tell God “thank You”. Tell your loved ones “thank you”. Once you begin to say “thank you”, you’ll start to feel a lot happier because you are beginning to see the full picture of life. You’ll no longer wish for what you don’t have. You’ll no longer feel lonely. You’ll no longer suffer from boredom. You’ll be too busy finding your blessings.
I know it’s hard, and that it seems silly, but God actually rewards a grateful heart. He, firstly, rewards it with joy, a heartwarming joy that makes the whole world seem bright. He tells us even to find joy in the midst of suffering. And how else would you do so but through gratefulness?
Try to see everything through this new lens. Try not to grumble anymore, even if things are hard. Instead thank God for something. I’m sure you could find just many things that you are grateful for as you can things to grumble about.
Well, guys, I hope I was able to help you see in a new light. I hope you leave with a warm happiness inside you. I am grateful–really grateful–that you read this post and I would be even more so if you left a comment about something that you are especially grateful for.
