Hey, guys, it's me, Daijah! At the time of me writing this post, it is late April. Like, really late April. Like almost-May April. Anyway, welcome or welcome back to my blog, DaiDreamer. I am so happy you took the time to click on this post, out of all the ones you could be reading today. (Or all the social media you could be scrolling today.)
Today, I just wanted to let you know that this month is Mental Health Awareness Month. If you've been following my blog for awhile, you'll know that this is something very near and dear to my heart. I came out of a lot of mental health struggles in my early teenage years, only to end up writing this blog to encourage young teens and tweens. I don't know everything there is to know about mental health and diagnoses, but I want to understand and that's why I've already decided that I'm going to go into counseling psychology (once I finish my associate's). I want to help the next generation with the problems I already know are coming. With the huge queer movement and a lot of other immoral conduct being shoved into children's brains, I already anticipate what needs to be done and plan to respond to it.
This month is a great time to start thinking about how you will respond to those who are struggling mentally. This is a great time to begin to address your own beliefs and past using books and the help of mentors, mature friends, and older siblings.
Parents, this is also a great time to begin to address issues such as suicide prevention, pure ideation, and how to handle it when other people who oppose their beliefs are struggling. Please, don't miss the opportunity to discuss these things candidly. If your kids can't talk to to you for fear of being judged or shunned, they will come up with the answers or find them on their own. Whether you're a part of it or not, they are going to find answers somewhere. I speak from experience. What do you think your kids are doing with their phones? It's a good time to consider all these things. No kids are too young to be brainwashed so no kid is too young to have a conversation about what they are experiencing.
May is also Asian and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. I really wanted to make a book list last year for this month, but it didn't end up working out because I think I was already a bit too late in the month of May and I think had post lined up. However, this month, I want to at least mention a few books and authors who write about Asian/Islander character or that are Asian/Islanders themselves. I'll leave a PDF of titles in the comments section.
During the month of May, on the second, is National Prayer Day. I think it's a great time to just reflect on what you've been praying and also to maybe revamp your prayer life. I'm not the type to sit and pray all day, but I plan to just be intentional about praying on that day. You might consider praying for a lost loved one, praying for the sick, praying for the martyred, praying for your mother... The list goes on.
Well, thank you guys so much for reading this post today. I hope this list of holidays and observances gets you thinking about how you can help others, better yourself, be kind, be prayerful, and be educated.
I hope you all have a terrific day. I love you all, and God does, too.
'K, bye!
