In late March, I read the book Listening for Lions by Gloria Whelan. The book is about a girl named Rachael Sheridan whose missionary parents, who run a hospital in Africa, pass away due to influenza. Rachael finds herself orphaned and swept into the home of the Pritchard's, who late daughter passed away in the care of her parents, also because of the flu. The Pritchard's, who hate Africa and love money, soon devise a plan to make Rachael pass as their daughter and visit the grandfather from who the Pritchard's want part of the will.

During the book, Rachael has many thoughts about what she has learned from other religions. For a split second, Rachael wonders, as she is forced to dress in Mrs. Pritchard's daughter Valerie's clothes, if she really is Valerie. She wonders if she has died and been reincarnated, as Hindus believe, into Valerie. She discovers that she hasn't, but the fact that Rachael even considered this for a moment proves that she could know more about the Christian faith which her parents lead and taught her in.

There is great importance in understanding your faith. I think the reason why many Muslims and Hindus and Buddhists have a hard time accepting the message of Christianity is because they have been so well-taught in their faith. So, well, when Christians come into their lives, not completely understanding their own faith, are not very convincing.

I just want to encourage my Christian siblings to learn the Truth inside-out so that you are never convinced of things that go against it. I love you guys.

Keep on dreaming.
