Redefine Yourself in 2024

Hey guys, it’s me, Dai! Happy new year! I hope you experience peace in this new year as well as a renewed sense of purpose. I know you want me just to get to the point of this post so that you can get back to doing… well, whatever you’re doing. And I will.
I realized that the identity we claim affects how we act. For years, I’ve believed that I am awkward, quiet, quick to frustration, perfectionistic, unexperienced, anxious, and weird. Even if I’ve never said it out loud, deep down, I believed it. I’d written those things on my heart and mind and acted in them for so long, but right now (in August, tbh) I’m deciding to redefine myself, to change what I believe about myself.
What are some things about yourself you don’t like but you’ve been believing? All those hurtful words that come to mind when you look in the mirror. What are they? Maybe ugly, not smart, scrawny, angry, foolish, worthless… Just because you’ve never said those words doesn’t mean you’ve never taken them up on your shoulders.
You want muscles but you don’t have them yet, but you’re working for them. You’re diligent and hopeful.
You want to be beautiful but you’ve got zits on your nose. You are beautiful, firstly, but most of all, you are loved by God and others for your personality, your quirks, and your smile.
You keep trying to diagnose yourself because you get scared in public. You’ve decided it’s anxiety and that you’re selectively mute. Don’t wear that like a badge of honor. Wear the word “brave” and believe that your quiet voice comes out as a roar, so you are loud!
I understand you guys’ struggles. I’ve been emotionally bruised, stepped all over by people I was kind to, and besides that, hurt by my own thoughts about myself. Please don’t resort to negative self-talk because it really doesn’t do anything good for you to slap negative labels on yourself. Believe that you are chosen and loved– adored, in fact. Imagine being told by a quiet, still Voice, “I chose you and I adore you.” It’s enough to make you tear up. But God is saying that to you today, right now. Believe it.
I love you guys.
Until next time,
Keep on Dreaming.
