Hey, guys, Daijah here. Today, we’re talking books, TV shows, movies, video games, and even music. I am so excited to share my tips on making fall cozy I am literally squirming in my seat.
Oh, before we dive in, let me introduce myself to those who are new to this blog. My name is Daijah, but call me Dai. I love God and media, and my blog is all about bringing them together. Though this blog is aimed toward children from nine to thirteen, anyone can learn a little and find a new book to read.
So let’s get on with it already.
Bake fall treats. This fall, I have been trying out healthy baking. I actually created a healthy chocolate mug cake recipe. I have tried out zucchini brownies, healthy pumpkin cookies, and of course, sugary-sweet pumpkin bars.
Get a scent cone for your bedroom. Mom got me a scent cone in late summer that smelled like churros, because I had just made baked churros for the first time. I did have to make them more like doughnut holes, rolling the dough in my hands, because my piping bag (aka. Zip-Loc bag) melted. Long story… 😬
Make a fall themed playlist. I haven’t done this one yet, but I see no reason why I shouldn’t try. I’m thinking peaceful songs like… Who You Say I Am (Hillsong United) and Storyteller (Morgan Harper Nichols). Something that would be good for listening while reading.
Clean up your room. Complain all you want, but you’ll be so much happier once it’s done. If you’re like me, and you just need to reorganize your bookshelves and make a list of books you can’t believe you don’t own, then just go on enjoying your day.
Watch a peaceful, fall themed movie or show. Good shows include Little House on the Prairie (though I only watched a little quite a few years ago) and When Calls the Heart. The Fox and the Hound is awesome, as well. You could also just skip straight to Christmas movies right now, if you want. There is nothing wrong with that.
Read the original Little House series. I know I said on Goodreads that I was going to write a whole post on the Little House side series’ and which ones I liked best, but I couldn’t even get into most of them. Even the Rose series, which is the next best, I didn’t finish. However, I have been reading the original books again this month.
Work on some art. I have been working on a lot of art over the fall. I am working to cover my room wall with pages and pages of it. You could do the same. You’d be surprised at the creativity that hides behind our skin and bones. If you prefer writing stories, then write stories. If you prefer making a new puppet for your collection, then do that, too. If you prefer to bake, then that is art. Do it. And don’t be discouraged that your way is different from someone else’s. What works for you is good enough for you.
Start Bible journaling. I must admit, I really did dread picking up my Bible before I started journaling a few weeks ago. By journaling, I mean writing my thoughts with colored pens and doodling in the margins of my Beautiful Word Coloring Bible. At first, I just let it sit there because I thought I had to color in it, on pictures that somebody else made, but now, I’ve realized that I can make my own pictures. Do whatever you have to do with your Bible to make reading it fun, to make God’s word stick. There is no right way to read your Bible.
Play Pikmin 3 or Animal Crossing, or some other cozy game.
Be thoughtful. Pay attention to your feelings. Taste your food more intentionally. Breathe deep. It really helps to pay attention to these little things.
Try a book outside of your comfort zone (like nonfiction if you like fiction or the other way ’round)
Keep a journal. It doesn’t even have to be conventional. It could be a sketchbook that you doodle in when you’re sad. It could be notepad in which you scribble your “I got a library card”, “I am childishly happy today”, or “today has been so hard”. Whatever works for you.
I hope that you all have gotten something from this post. I enjoyed writing it. I like to share my thoughts with others. I’m sure you do too, so do leave a comment about this post and what you want to try on this list, or things that you think I should try. Have fun today, you guys. God loves you and may His favor rest upon you today.
‘K, bye!
