What I was reading last fall

Hey, guys; it’s me, Daijah. This year has been really fruitful as far as books go. I seem to always have one on my TBR or in my hands. Of course, that is after praying for a long time for more good books to read. That has took me discovering several things about me. I don’t like books that are too scary, too romantic, or that feature protagonists older than thirteen. Because of that, I have been able to have grace with myself and remain primarily in the children’s section.

Welcome to those of you who are new to my blog, and welcome back to those of you who read it and love it. I’m Daijah, a teenager on her way to becoming an award-winning author– maybe. I write this blog in hopes of making it easier for tweens to navigate the fast-paced world of media.

Today, I had the idea for this post while doing research on college–teenager stuff. It turns out that the things I’ve been reading this fall aren’t much different from what I was reading last fall; you’ll see what I mean.

This year, during the months of September/October, here are a few of the many books that I’ve read:

Shiloh

Little Farm in the Ozarks

Farmer Boy

Just Like Beverly

The King’s Stilts

And last year, I read (though the list is not limited to):

Island of the Blue Dolphins

Thank you, Omu!

Missing Okalee

Before the Ever After

Miriam at the River

I do feel like my book taste has changed a lot, beginning with the grace I’ve begun to have with myself about loving children’s books. I am slowing defining my own reading interests, instead of going with the crowd. If you are able, put together a list of the books you read last fall and compare them to the ones you are reading this fall. You might see some similarities, you might see some serious differences. Either is okay. Regardless, you’re growing. You’re growing into your own individual and into the person that God created you to be.

So pick up that book that seems too young for you, if you’re interested. Check out that book that sounds like it might be fun. And be graceful to yourself if it turned out not to be that great.

Well, guys, thanks for reading today’s post! I am really grateful that you found the time to at least skim it. Slow down sometimes. Think about what you are reading and watching. And don’t always go with the crowd, because you could miss out on some of the most wonderful things trying to be like other people. I think you’re awesome, whoever you are, reading this, because you were created by God as a unique individual with many talents and strengths. Remember how much you’ve grown since last year. Remember, that regardless of your past, you have a future. God loves you.

‘K, bye!
