Hey, guys! It’s Daijah of DaiDreamer here with another video game review. If you’re new to my blog, welcome. On DaiDreamer, I invite children from ages 9-13 to evaluate media, which we all consume. Today, I’d like to share with you my opinions on the recently released Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (woah, that’s a mouthful) game.
The first thing to know about this game is that it is based on the 1980’s TV show of the same name. If you’re like me, you’ve watched enough of it to be familiar with the characters in this game. If you aren’t, I suggest finding a collection of episodes at your local library. Then come back and read this.
The second thing you need to know is that the people who created this game also created the fourth game in the installment Streets of Rage, which my dad loves. I think that TMNT:SR is a lot more kid-friendly than Streets of Rage, and more comical.
I really like this TMNT game and I am so glad the classic beat-’em-up style was brought back. My younger sis and bro really like the older TMNT beat-’em-ups, and me and Kayden did when we were younger, so this was really exciting.
The night my dad bought the game, we had pizza and played ’til o’ dark thirty at night. When I say “we”, I mean the whole family: both my sisters, my younger brother, Dad, and Mom (and believe me, she doesn’t jump to play many video games). It was really fun, and the whole time, we gave the characters dialogue (which we always do) and laughed sleepily.
Now, I do have a few things to say about this game that might be a bit negative, even a bit silly, but here goes. The word “shell” is used in place of a curse word in a cutscene, and that’s as far as language goes. Next, the mutations the turtles and other animals go through are scientifically impossible. (I’m sorry, y’all; I had to say it.) Then, there is, of course, the worst thing of all–it’s fun! Noooooo! It’s fun! Parents, did you hear that? It’s fun! It’s fun, and it’s clean, and it’s a great game to add to your collection.
I hope this post helped you to decide whether or not to play this game. Have a balance between work and fun, guys, and make sure your fun is godly fun. This game is not perfect, but nothing is, so get as close as you can to perfection and don’t compromise. Remember that God sees everything you do, and you’ll always make the right choices.
