Hey, guys; it’s Daijah here! Welcome to my blog, DaiDreamer, the blog created for tweens by a teen who’s “been through the shaking, the beating, and the pressing”. I created this blog in hopes of making it easier for the younger generation to navigate an ever-changing world of media. However, my posts are not limited to children; anyone can walk away with something new: a new perspective, a new book, a new album.

“I can hardly stand the wait…” so let’s get started counting down.

Number five, at the bottom of my absolute favorite albums list is Majestic by Kari Jobe.

This album has such sentimental value for me because the very first concert I ever went to was Kari Jobe’s Majestic concert. It was so exciting when Majestic came out because I had always loved listening to Steady My Heart, We Are, and some of Kari’s other songs. I remember standing by the speakers in front of the stage at the concert, music blasting in my ears. I can’t remember if I was singing, but I’m pretty sure I was because elementary school me sang all the time.

Number four is…drumrooooolllll pleease….

’91, by Jamie Grace.

This album is also very special to me because Jamie Grace was one of my favorite artists. Fun fact: This album came out in my early preteens. I remember the day Mom showed me The Happy Song music video. She was doing my hair that day (which, whoo, getting my thick hair done was a struggle) and we watched the video the whole way through. I loved it and I still do to this day. I am so grateful for this album and I am glad I got to be a part of celebrating it.

Numbeeeer Threee! The Power and the Glory by Mahalia Jackson.

I remember the first day my mom put this on in our homeschool classroom. After that day, I put it on and simply sat to listen to Mahalia’s rich, sonorous voice spread to the very corners of the room. I love it so much, to this day. I know, though, that Mahalia’s voice does not appeal to everyone because my younger sis and bro don’t really care for the album. And that’s okay.

Now we’re really moving up. We’re already at number two?! Give me a minute. I really have to think about this one. Uh… Okay. Okay, okay, okay. I think I’ve got it. Yes, number two is none other than…

Forever Yours by Smokie Norful!

This was our album while my dad was deployed some years back. Mom actually created a whole slide show of pictures for Dad, with a song from this album playing in the background. Therefore this album is one of my forever favorites. Funny story. Mom actually ended up buying this CD twice because we lost the first one. So, yeah.

Okay, now, I’m having a difficult time with this one as well because there are so many albums that could claim the top spot of my top five list. But. There. Can. Only. Be. One. Over the years, I have heard so much good music, so it is very hard to choose. However, I think I’ve decided that…

I don’t have a favorite album. Throughout the years, there have been so many that I’ve loved. But which of them is my favorite really depends in the current season of my life. So instead of labeling one album as my favorite, I will share a list of albums that have each entered my life and gave a voice to my doubts yet gave me hope:

Mom used to play this album so often.

For some odd reason, I remember getting this album mixed up with Forever Yours because Mom often played them back-to-back– or something. (I was really young, okay?)

Mom had the entire album on her Ipod.

When we were stationed in Germany, Mom put these powerful songs on so often that my little brother, who was much, much younger, knew the lyrics to many of the songs.

Jamie Grace used to come on all the time on His Radio. Do Life Big was one of my favorite songs– and music videos.

Mom used to play How Can it Be in a difficult season.

I was a young teenager when I discovered this album. To be completely transparent, I was in a pretty dark time, but the lyrics of Tori’s songs and the sound of her voice led me through.

And this is the newest edition to the list. Thought I admit that some of the songs on this CD I haven’t heard yet, for the past month or so, Bless Me and Talkin’ ‘Bout (Love) have been some of the most played songs in our house thanks to– guess who? Mom.

And that’s leaving out the ever-growing list of singles. But if you want to hear some of those, that’s a post for another day.

I love music so much, guys. It is a great way to praise the Lord and to release our feelings in a healthy way. I still like to sing a lot. I sing praise and sometimes just create my own songs in the moment. Sometimes, I do sing non-worship songs too, but I feel that there is a place for both praise and just music. That doesn’t mean listen to junk, but if you have God in your mind, He will come through in your music choices. So absorb the Word of God and worship music so that your mind can be trained to focus on Him.

Well, guys, thank you for spending a portion of your short day reading my blog. In this fast-moving world, it can be hard to stop and think, let alone stop and read someone else’s thoughts. I get that. I encourage you to find more time to think and to open up your mind to other people’s thoughts, so that you can guide them along or let their words guide you.
