Hey, guys! It’s Daijah of DaiDreamer. Welcome to my blog, those of you who are visiting for the first time. I’m an introverted, God-loving bibliophile who shares her thoughts about media of all kinds. If you’ve been here before, then you know the drill.

Lately, I have been struggling to find books that interest me and that reflect a worldview that I’m interested in learning about. I’m pretty sure I’m not the only one, either. But I decided that my book drought is done.

So, this summer, I have compiled a list of books I want to read. By doing this, I hope that I can push you guys toward some good books.

The first book on my summer TBR is a middle-grade book called Stella by McCall Hoyle.

Here is a synopsis from Goodreads that explains the plot of this book:

“Ever since she was a puppy, Stella was trained to use her powerful beagle nose to sniff out dangerous chemicals and help her handler keep people safe. But during a routine security inspection, Stella misses the scent of an explosive. The sound of the blast is loud and scary. Unable to go back to work because of her anxiety, Stella is retired as a working dog.

When a young girl named Cloe wants to adopt Stella, the beagle knows this is her last chance to prove her worth. But how? When Stella smells a strange chemical inside Cloe’s body, a scent that surges just before the girl has a seizure, Stella’s nose makes the connection. But how can Stella warn her new family without them thinking she’s having an anxiety attack? How can she convince others that she can be a new kind of service dog and hopefully save Cloe’s life?”

I want to read this book because I love dog books, as well as stories that build empathy. Plus, knowing that the narrative will be from Stella’s perspective brings elementary school me, who loved A Dog’s Life by Ann M. Martin, to mind. So, yeah, I’m really looking forward to reading this book.

The next book on my TBR is Real by Carol Cujec.

This middle-grade book is about a girl called Charity who is nonverbally autistic. The story follows her as she attends public school:

“Charity may have mad math skills and a near-perfect memory, but with a mouth that can’t speak and a body that jumps, rocks, and howls unpredictably, most people incorrectly assume she cannot learn. Charity’s brain works differently from most people’s because of her autism, but she’s still funny, determined, and kind. So why do people treat her like a disease or ignore her like she’s invisible? When Charity’s parents enroll her in a public junior high school, she faces her greatest fears. Will kids make fun of her? Will her behavior get her kicked out? Will her million thoughts stay locked in her head forever? With the support of teachers and newfound friends, Charity will have to fight to be treated like a real student. “

I really like to read about differently-abled people because it helps me to learn about different lifestyles and ways of thinking. I am especially curious about hearing the thoughts of someone who is on the spectrum.

Next on my TBR is Live by Sadie Robertson.

Honestly, I’ve been wanting to read this book for a long, long time. I have read just about all of Mrs. Huff’s books and I really look up to her as a Christian. Once, she was a teenager who encouraged us to live original, now she’s a married woman reminding the younger generation to keep in mind the effects of those we follow. This book came out in 2020, at which point Mrs. Huff was still Miss Robertson. This synopsis excerpt explains what the book is about:

“In Live, Sadie Robertson inspires us to thrive in the life God gave us by making choices that will lead us into the fullness He has for us, not into the emptiness the world offers.”

The next book I want to read this summer is Peace is a Practice by Morgan Harper Nichols.

I listen to the Morgan Harper Nichols Show on Spotify, so as soon as Mrs. Nichols announced the release of this book, I wanted to read it. The description of this book says:

“If you feel overwhelmed with anxiety about the future, you’re far from alone. For many of us, when we’re not worrying about what is to come, we find ourselves wrestling with things from the past. Where does that leave us today?

Morgan Harper Nichols has learned the answer to this question. She has examined stories from her own life and the lives of people around the world and noticed a common thread: we all long for peace. We’re all seeking light and life. But these things don’t happen passively. Peace Is a Practice invites you to become a peacemaker in your own life, starting right where you are, and in some of the most unexpected places.”

I, if you haven’t noticed, am introverted. Being introverted means that social interactions can be tiring for you. Not everyone is introverted, not even all of my siblings.

Because I’m introverted, I need some alone time every now and again. I get listless and miserable if I don’t have that time to myself. It’s often hard to find peace. Not saying that this book will be the ultimate cure, but I do think it will offer some tips on enjoying peace even with the world’s clamor surrounding me.

The remainder of the books on my TBR are children’s books:

Just Like Beverly: A Biography of Beverly Cleary by Vicky Conrad.

(I grew up on the Ramona series, y’all, and I loved the Henry Huggins series even though I’m a girl. Dear Mr. Henshaw and Strider are great, too, okay?)

Stormy: A Story About Finding Forever Home by Guojing

(I like dog stories.🤪)

Love and the Rocking Chair by Leo and Dione Dillon

(Because The People Could Fly.)

And that’s basically it, guys. Those are the books I’m most excited to read this summer. Of course, my TBR never really ends, though. I look forward to following up on this list once this summer is over. I hope you found at least one book you want to read.

If you enjoyed this post, please send the link to somebody you love and leave a like. Please be sure to vote on the poll on my homepage with your requests for future posts. I appreciate you guys so much. You are the ones I write this blog for, the ones I prayed to touch. Be sure to check me out on Goodreads and maybe even follow me or send me a friend request if my reading preferences interest you.

‘K, bye!
