Movies that get us into the Christmas Spirit

My little bro says that the best way to get in the Christmas spirit is to watch terrible Christmas movies, and while I agree with him on that, good Christmas movies contribute much as well.
Salut, je suis Daijah, the creator of the blog DaiDreamer. Here on my blog, I talk about entertainment of all kinds with preteens and young teenagers in mind. My hope is to make it easier for the children of this age to navigate the world without compromising their values. However, I also invite anybody who is interested in what I have to offer, so don’t shy away if you’re over twenty.
Now, we all know it’s getting really close to Christmas, which, yes, is certainly a reminder of how Jesus was brought into the world, but is also a family get-together time, the time of year when everybody packs into the same room because of the weather. During those times, my family likes to watch sappy, romantic, and incredibly unrealistic Christmas movies as well as sweet, tear-rending classics just for the fun of it. And if your Christmas traditions are similar to ours, then, stick around, because I have quite a list.
1. It’s A Wonderful Life
This timeless classic just recently joined our family’s Christmas collection in 2020; now we watch it every Christmas Eve. If you haven’t seen this movie yet, just go ahead, watch it, and feel the feels.
2. Mickey’s Christmas Carol
I’m honestly not sure when this movie hasn’t been around. Everyone, my grandmother, my mother, and me and my sibs have seen this movie and remember it fondly.
3. The Chandler Family movies

The Chandler Christmas movies are definitely a family favorite, and it’s a good thing there are five of them or we would keep wishing that there were more (which, let me be honest, I still do wish there were at least five more).
4. White Christmas
This movie is one of my mom’s and brother’s favorites, which is a win-win. We (excluding my mom, who’d seen it before) first seen it in color on Netflix in 2020, but now we purposely watch it in black and white because… well, just because, okay?
5. Home Alone
If I’m completely honest, I don’t like Home Alone that much, yet we watch it every year. I mean, some parts are funny, yes, but I just don’t like children using language in films, which Kevin does a lot. But my brother liked it so much, we ended up watching it twice last winter.
6. A Charlie Brown Christmas
It’s the simplicity of this movie that makes it especially memorable. It’s very short, but on the disk our family has, we also have the sequel, It’s Christmastime Again, Charlie Brown, so the fun doesn’t have to end as fast.
7. Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmas
From a young age, my sister Kayden and I have loved this collection of short movies. Even though we’ve gotten much older since then, we still watch this collection as a family or just as siblings.
Even though my family has great Christmas movies to watch, we also find it fun to try new ones, even if they don’t become new favorites. Yes, I’ve seen Princess Switch, A Very Vintage Christmas, The Christmas Pact (which was epically terrible), and I could go on. Still, terrible Christmas movies and great ones alike have a place in beginning the Christmas season in our lives.
What are you guys’ favorite Christmas movies? I would really love if you’d leave me a comment telling me; maybe I’ll try them. If there’s one on this list you haven’t seen, I recommend trying it out. And as usual, remember to be thoughtful in choosing the things that you watch. If you have grown out of a movie that you used to like, find a new favorite. If you like a movie that you used to despise, that’s okay. It happens to everyone, even me, and it’s okay.
One more thing. Guys, don’t ever forget, in the middle of the busyness, that Jesus is the reason for it all.
‘K, bye!
