Keto Product Reviews + My Opinion on Swerve

So, for a long time, I’ve been searching for a sugar substitute because I’m sugar intolerant. I know that sounds crazy, but I just can’t eat much sugar or my mind will start to race, I can see a difference in my vision, and blah and blah and stuff. Anyway, because of said intolerance, I have been trying out a lot of alternative sweeteners, baking mixes, and recipes. Needless to say, my siblings are none too pleased.

This is a picture of the muffins I made with King Arthur’s Keto Muffin Mix. I added some raisins, oats, and cinnamon. (As you can see, Baylee is transfixed.) The texture was actually really decent, and while it tasted pretty good, coconut flour is the primary flour, so if you’re not a fan of coconut, you probably won’t be too big a fan of this mix. Next time, though, I’ll probably leave out the raisins.

In short, this was the worst brownie mix I ever used. It tasted soapy, came out of the oven more like cake than brownie, and disappointed me greatly. I would not suggest it to anyone, ever.

On one of our Teen Nights earlier this year, these were on sale, so I bought them for snacks. Neither my mom nor Kayden finished them, so… I ate them all over the course of the next few days. They were actually pretty good, and if you’re looking for a low carb choice, I’d suggest trying one.

I got a chance to try out this yummy watermelon candy when me, my sisters, and my mom went to go see Roll With It with the women from our church. It was chewy and sticky, and I was happy to be able to eat candy without going into “sugar shock”.

Swerve is the best sweetener I’ve ever used. It tastes like sugar, and acts like sugar, but it doesn’t make me feel the same way sugar makes me feel. I would suggest it for anyone trying to cut sugar from their diet. Using it, you’ll never even miss sugar. For example, I used Swerve to make Nadiya Hussain’s Strawberry and Clotted Cream Shortcake Cupcakes and I think even Kayden liked them.

I also tried out powdered Swerve for the frosting of Nadiya’s cupcakes. It wasn’t quite what I was expecting, being a little… zesty, I guess, but I wouldn’t say it was bad.
Well, that wraps up my food reviews. I look forward to sharing more recipes with you guys, and I hope you try out some of these products. At least try Swerve in your baking. You’ll never regret it. In fact, I made some brownies with it today (May 18) and I think I’ll go have one.
Until next time.
Keep on dreaming!
